When reporting a problem, include your TopoWave version and build, device model, iOS or iPadOS version, what you tried, what you expected, and what happened. A screenshot is helpful when it does not reveal sensitive information. Never send Apple credentials, authentication tokens, or other secrets.

Getting started

  1. Open Plan and choose Link path.
  2. Place Site A and Site B with the persistent placement action or the controls on each site row. You can tap the map, use your current location, enter validated latitude and longitude, or choose a saved place.
  3. Enter antenna heights and choose a radio preset or custom frequency.
  4. Optionally select Save link plan to keep the setup without using an analysis.
  5. Select Analyze link.
  6. Review terrain line of sight, 60% Fresnel clearance, obstructions, link-budget estimates, and the terrain-source disclosure.

For a terrain-visibility study, switch to Coverage, place the transmitter with the map, current location, exact coordinates, or a saved place, choose range and direction, enter the transmitter and receiver heights, and select Analyze terrain visibility. You can save the coverage plan before analysis.

What the results mean

TopoWave is a terrain-planning aid, not a guarantee of reception or coverage. Terrain data can include or omit buildings and vegetation depending on the source. Weather, interference, diffraction, antenna configuration, equipment performance, and local regulations also affect real links. Confirm equipment specifications and critical links in the field.

Estimated RF coverage (Beta)

On production builds where it is available, Coverage can show a separate Estimated RF (Beta) layer after a terrain analysis. You must explicitly turn it on. It uses the entered RF link budget and a terrain propagation model to show predicted received power or planning margin. Terrain visibility remains a different green/yellow/red assessment and the default map layer; an RF value never changes it.

RF beta is a second protected analysis, separate from the terrain-visibility request. A completed RF beta request uses an additional analysis allowance; leave it off when you only need terrain visibility. Failed service operations are refunded under the same rules as other analyses.

The beta supports terrestrial 30–6,000 MHz studies from 1–100 km. It does not model HF/skywave propagation, indoor coverage, interference, or all building, vegetation, weather, and regulatory effects. It is not a guarantee of reception, throughput, availability, safety, or regulatory compliance. Verify important coverage in the field. RF beta results are not currently included in saved terrain snapshots or exports.

Analysis allowance

Each new point-to-point terrain profile or coverage request uses one analysis. Check a saved pair also uses one analysis and shows that cost before it runs. Failed terrain-service operations are refunded, although temporary rate limits can still apply. Editing or saving plans, reviewing or comparing frozen results, optimizing heights, and exporting files do not use an analysis.

A verified guest device currently receives 5 terrain analyses per day. Optional Sign in with Apple provides 10 terrain analyses per day. TopoWave does not request your name or email address from Apple. The account and analysis-access card displays the current allowance and reset information.

To protect service reliability, you can start one new analysis per minute and up to five per rolling hour. Waiting for a temporary rate limit does not reduce your remaining allowance.

Location permission

Location access is optional and is used only while the app is open to center the map or start a plan. If you decline, you can still tap the map or enter coordinates manually. TopoWave does not use continuous background location.

Saved data and exports

Saved sites, plans, equipment profiles, and completed results are stored on your device. Exports remain on your device unless you choose to share them with another app or service. Removing the app removes app-controlled local storage subject to iOS backup and system behavior, but does not remove files you previously exported elsewhere.

Sign in with Apple and account deletion

Sign in with Apple is optional. To manage or delete the current account:

  1. Open Plan.
  2. Tap the account and analysis-access card near the top (it has a person icon).
  3. Choose Delete account and confirm.

Deleting an account permanently removes the associated server account and service records as described in the privacy policy. Apple-backed deletion also revokes TopoWave's Sign in with Apple access. Locally saved plans remain on the device until you delete them or remove the app.

Terrain data

TopoWave identifies the terrain source used for each completed analysis and shows applicable source notes and attribution. Elevation resolution and model type vary by region. A terrain model is not a land survey and may not include every obstruction.

Availability

Terrain analysis requires an internet connection and depends on TopoWave's service and its terrain-data providers. If a request fails, try again later. If the problem continues, contact support with the app version, device and operating-system version, and the approximate time of the failure. You do not need to send the planned coordinates unless support specifically asks and you choose to provide them.
