In iPhone Settings, open Privacy & Security > Location Services > Svalbard Map and allow location access. Location is used to show your position and, when you start a recording, to record the track you choose.
Yes. While an active recording is running, the app can continue to receive location updates in the background. Stop the recording when finished. iOS shows its location-use indicator during this use.
Download the intended area while connected, then test it in Airplane Mode before leaving coverage. Downloaded maps are stored on your iPhone and can be managed from the Offline maps tab.
Delete tracks, saved places and offline map areas in the app. Deleting the app removes its private on-device data, subject to your iOS backup settings.
Map layers are provided by the Norwegian Polar Institute and are displayed with the required attribution and licence links in the app. Map data are supplied as-is and may not match terrain or be suitable for navigation.
